Elephant Revival | Elephant Revival Break In The Clouds | Swingtime Big Band Streamliner | Pieta Brown Mercury |
A very tasty indie band that my buddy Buzz from Greenvalve Audio recently brought to my attention. Tracks 2, 5 and 13 are superb | Another fine CD by Elephant Revival Very interesting female vocals Tracks 1, 5, 6 and 13 Track 5 is worth the price of the CD | One of my buddies at work plays a mean baritone sax with this band. Some fine female vocals, as well. If you are ever in Newport, KY ... catch them live at the York St. Cafe | I
recently heard Pieta live (opening for Richard Thompson). Good, honest
stuff, and she autographed the CD that I bought at the show .....
; ) Tracks 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 |
Pharaoh's Daughter Haran | Vertical Horizon Running On Ice | Richard Marx & Matt Scannell Duo | Dennis Crommett In The Buffalo Surround |
Some interesting middle eastern music ..... very involving with the lights turned down low. Tracks 1, 4, 7 and 10 | A little more "pop" than my normal tastes, but enjoyable. Tracks 2, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14 | There are two versions of this CD, a studio and a live set. To my ears, the live CD is the one to have. These guys (and the audience) are havin' fun. | Interesting mix of acoustic and electric instruments with some decent vocals. Tracks 1, 5, 7, 10, 11 |
Peter Mulvey and David Goodrich Nine Days Wonder | Black Prairie Feast of the Hunter Moon | Yo-Yo Ma and friends The Goat Rodeo Sessions | UB40 Labour of Love |
A really nice acoustic instrumental duo. Not a bad song on the disk and well recorded, to boot. | Most of the album is a throwaway IMHO, but track 2 (Red Rocking Chair) is worth the price of the CD. Bravo !!! | Four masters of acoustic stringed instruments plus the lovely voice of Aoife O'Donovan. Tracks 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 | When I am in the mood for some reggae jammin' ..... this is the CD. An oldie, but goodie ..... not intended for reggae "purists". |
