Cowboy Junkies the caution horses | Gary Schocker Bach, Handel, Telemann | Hans Theessink Baby Wants to Boogie | Legacy A Collection of New Folk Music |
The lovely voice of Margo Timmins. This is one of their best albums. All tracks are good, I especially like 4 and 5. | When I am in the mood for some chamber music, this is it. Flute, harpsichord and cello. Tracks 12 and 13 are very good. | This
CD should probably be on the blues page, but what the heck, Blues
with a tuba for the bass instrument. Tracks 5, 6 and 10 are very nice. | Windham Hill compilation from 1989. Some of it is pretty good and well recorded. I especially like tracks 1, 4, 6, 7 and 11 |
Emma Beaton / Nic Gareiss | Nanci Griffith Other Voices - Other Rooms | Jeffrey Foucault Horse Latitudes | John Jarvis Something Constructive |
Some nice acoustic strings and vocals. Tracks 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 | I
love Nanci's voice, she sometimes sounds like a little girl. This
is one of her best. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13 | Honest vocals and some great instrumentation. Tracks 1, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 are extra good. | I'm not a huge fan of electric keyboard / synthesizer music, but this is better than most. I like tracks 3, 6 and 9. |
Kendra Shank Afterglow | Lou Reed Magic and Loss | Rebecca Pidgeon Four Marys | The Flautadors Music for the Queen of Scots |
A typical well recorded Mapleshade disk. Very nice voice and piano. Tracks 3, 6 and 9 are very good. | Lou's
tribute album to his father, who died of lung cancer. Very
thought provoking. Tracks 3 and 4 are great, # 4 is demo
quality on a good audio system. | This lady has a very interesting and different voice, recorded on the Chesky label. Tracks 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 are my favorites. | A
quartet of recorder artists. They play instruments from the tiniest recorder
to bass versions as tall as the artist. At times the sound
resembles a pipe organ. Tracks 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 28, 30, 31 |
